Students are encouraged to better themselves and practice harder
There are two to three tests held each year on Saturday afternoons. Individuals will be tested on their ability to perform under pressure, their foundation/structure, their ability to deliver power and their understanding of their forms.
To advance from white belt to yellow belt requires passing one test. All other ranks, up until black belt, require passing two tests to be promoted to the next rank.
At designated times, each candidate must submit an essay on martial art theories and applications.
As a symbol of their acheivment, certificates will be issued to successful candidates. Where essays are required, they will be issued upon completion of the essay.
There is a $50 fee for each test.

In order to advance to the rank of Black belt, and to continue advancing ranks after Black belt, students will be tested on their knowledge of all the forms they have learned, in addition to the form they most recently learned.
